A New Blog Focuses On Octorara's School Board

In the absence of a weekly newspaper to keep us in the loop about what the Octorara School Board is up to, a new blog has appeared to keep all of us informed.

The blog, "Civic Journalist", bills itself as "A news site serving the Octorara and Solanco regions of Lancaster and Chester counties." It's primary focus is on School Board activity and discussions.

You can find blog at http://civicjournalist.blogspot.com/

Debbie Wygant, who lives in the district (Sadbury, Lancaster County I believe) and does freelance reporting for a couple of the Lancaster newspapers publishes Civic Journalism. I've known Debbie for several years and can vouch for her ability as a reporter and observer of the Octorara School District. She understands our district and always gets the facts right.

Pay the blog a visit and send Debbie an email to express your appreciation for her efforts.

Note: After the original post was published I received a note from Ellen Brown informing me of her Octorara School District blog. You can find Ellen's musings at octorara.blogspot.com. Thank you Ellen!

Where Is The Parkesburg Fountain?

Up until a week ago this beautiful fountain, both a historical artifact and a source of pride for the residents of Parkesburg, was sitting atop a brick base at the corner of Main Street and Strasburg Ave directly across the street from Rocco's and Anna's fine Italian restaurant.

Not anymore. All that remains is the brick base, minus a couple of bricks, and the exposed water pipes.

Anyone know who took it and where it is?
