The latest news from Council President Mel Keen:

Pennsylvania American's Rate Increase
A complaint was filed against PAWC on Parkesburg Borough's behalf to reduce the proposed 229% rate increase. Parkesburg has circumstances specific to the Borough that will be presented.
Council Vacancy
There is a vacancy on Borough Council.  Residents of one year or more who are interested should send a letter of intent with qualifications to Borough Hall as soon as possible.
Recycling Changes Coming Soon
The Borough will be adding a second day of recycling.  Please continue to put recycling out on Tuesday until we firm up the new schedule.  You will receive a post card in the mail if your recycle day is changed.
No Yard Waste Collection the Week of July 5th

Upcoming Events-

Fireman's Fair
June 29- July 3.  Fireworks will be Friday night  with Saturday as the rain date. Volunteers needed.

Exercise Classes
Westminster Place currently has an exercise class held each week on Wednesdays at 6:30pm in the community room.  This event is open to local folks 55+.  All exercises are done while seated.  The class is 45 minutes and the fee (payable to the certified instructor) is $7.50 per week.

Does anyone proofread anymore?!!! It's not wise to depend on spell check. Look at the first line under "Pennsylvania American Rate Increase." And, the newsletter went out like this; this isn't Ken's mistake. Good grief.

Cindy, thank you for taking the time to point out our mistakes. Corrections have been made. I'll be more careful going forward.


That said, I must take issue with your placing the blame on Mel. As Parkesburg Today is my blog, I take full responsibility for any spelling or grammar errors.

Besides, as President of Borough Council, Mel gets a pass because of all she's doing in and around town to move things along and keep us all informed. She's to be commended!
