At a gathering of Parkesburg Democrats at Westminster place on Sunday, Chester County Commissioner Kathi Cozzone excited those in attendance with her stories of meeting candidate and then president-elect Barack Obama.

Using President Obama's 'Fired up and ready to go' campaign theme, Commissioner Cozzone reminded the 20 or so Democrats in attendance that past election successes, including President Obama's election in 2008, were the result of hard work and perseverance of party activist and volunteers in small towns across the country like Parkesburg.

Mayor John Hagan also addressed the gathering retelling stories about growing up in Parkesburg including his memories of the thriving First Avenue and Main Street business community.  He comments were capped by again declaring his intention to seek a third term this year as Parkesburg's Mayor.

Beyond that the Mayor had another surprise; the coveted Mayor's fedora award.  From time to time Mayor Hagan awards a fedora to individuals in recognition of the individual's service to Parkesburg.  Mayor Hagan surprised former council member Ken Knickerbocker at the gathering with a black leather fedora of his own.

Thank you Mayor for the award and for your own tireless service to the people of Parkesburg.

Congrats on the fedora ... now that this is made public, you're going to have to wear that hat around P-burg.
