DRESS FOR COMMENCEMENT
A dignified commencement for you and your family depends a great deal on how you look. For this reason, a
list of suggestions has been prepared. For the sake of uniformity, please follow these directions:
1. Hang up your gown as soon as you get it home. This will take most of the wrinkles out and make pressing unnecessary.FOR BOYS ONLY
2. Wear your mortarboard (cap) straight on your head. Remember, you have worked twelve years for the privilege of wearing this cap. Therefore, wear it with the dignity it deserves.
3. Keep the tassel on the right-hand side, slightly in front of the side corner.
4. No items other than NHS, Technical Honor Society and NAHS cords may be worn on gowns.
5. NO CELL PHONES!!!
1. Wear a white shirt.FOR GIRLS ONLY
2. Wear long pants. NO SHORTS, PLEASE.
3. Wear a necktie--one that will look good with your blue gown.
4. Wear dark shoes, if possible. Do not wear sneakers, flip-flops or sandals.
5. You will remove your cap during the National Anthem and the Alma Mater. Please replace it
carefully so it is straight on your head and the tassel is properly in place.
1. Wear white shoes if possible. Do not wear sneakers, flip-flops or sandals.THE PROCESSIONAL WILL START PROMPTLY AT 6:30.
2. Wear a light color (pastel) or white under your gown. Bright colors will show through. NO
SHORTS, PLEASE.
3. Make sure your hair style looks good with your mortarboard.
4. You will not be able to carry a pocketbook--it would be best to leave it at home or with one of your guests.
5. If you sit in the front row, please be careful about crossing your legs. Either keep your feet
flat on the floor or cross your legs at the ankles.
6. No corsages may be worn on gowns.
