A good article in this morning's Philadelphia Inquirer about Octorara alum and SF Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong quoting longtime Octorara baseball coaches including Sonny Skiles and Roy Wessner.
Vogelsong beat the Arizona Diamondbacks Wednesday evening going six innings and giving up just one run in an 8 to 1 victory for the Giants.
Money quote from Gene Lambert, current boys basketball coach at Octorara who graduated four years ahead of Vogelsong in 1991 and remains a close friend of the pitcher today:
"He's never forgotten his roots. People here are talking about what he's accomplished, and they're very proud of him."
