Administrators Freeze Pay, Not Teachers



The Daily Local ran a front page story today listing area school districts where administrators and teachers had already agreed to a one-year pay freeze as proposed by Governor Corbett.

Below is a list of school entities across the state known to have adopted a wage freeze in their 2011-12 budget. Note that this list is not an official tally. Districts are in no way required to notify PSBA of their wage freeze status, and as such this list changes daily.

That said, The Octorara School District is conspicuously absent from the list.

But before you go jumping up a down, recognize the issue is with the list, not Octorara administrators.

Octorara administrators did in fact forgo their entire 2011 - 2012 increase in this year's budget which the school board passed a couple of weeks ago.

The jury is still out on Octorara's teachers however.  Negotiations are currently underway on a multi-year contract and until all the details are hammered out, the district's teachers have not publicly agreed to a freeze.

Wonder what they're waiting for?
