PHFA South-Eastern Forum

According to their web site, the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency is the Commonwealth's leading provider of capital for affordable homes and apartments located throughout the state.

Created to help enhance the quality and supply of affordable homes and apartments for older adults, people of modest means, and people with physical challenges, the agency operates homeownership programs and rental housing development initiatives that benefit all the state's residents.

Through the housing construction and rehabilitation efforts funded by PHFA, the agency also promotes economic development across Pennsylvania.

Since its creation by the legislature in 1972, the agency has generated $10.3 billion of funding for more than 145,000 single-family home mortgage loans and 83,000 rental units, while saving the homes of more than 46,000 families from foreclosure. PHFA programs and operations are funded primarily by the sale of securities, not by public tax dollars.
