Intermediate School Principal Reports On 1st Day Of School

By Mr. Christian Haller, Principal

Opening Day at Octorara Intermediate School (OIS) was quite a bit different than in years past.  We opened after having a 2 hour delay due to the hurricane with an assembly in the multipurpose room.  Mr. Haller spoke to the students encouraging them to remember 3 simple pointers.
  • Work hard
  • Be respectful to others
  • Ask for help
The students were enthusiastic and eager to return to school.  Many students were excited to return to school and the teachers were excited to see them as well.  The school building itself was spotless and neatly decorated.  Teachers had the halls prepared for the students arrival with banners announcing the different team’s names.

Throughout the day teachers helped students with the routines of returning to school.  Students were happy to see their friends who they missed for several months and were happy to receive their schedules and finally get into their lockers.

Classes were cut short due to the 2 hour delay schedule.  Many teams altered their schedules and completed team activities with the students.  After the rough weather we experienced over the weekend the first day was filled with sunny blue skies  The day seemed like it was over before it began and students were headed for the buses.

It was a great start to the school year!
