Former Octorara High School Band Director Jere Fridy will return as guest conductor at the holiday concert next Tuesday night, Dec. 21. Fridy, of Penn Township, taught at the high school for 35 years and retired in 1997.
He said he was called recently by the current band director Scott Cullen, who told him that alumni from the 1970s were interested in having him return to conduct a few numbers for the Christmas concert at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
“It’ll be one or two songs, “In the Bleak Midwinter” by Gustav Holst and “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson, Fridy said.
