Remembering Brandon


On Flag Day we remember a local Marine who gave his all for the country and freedom he loved.

The details of Corporal Brandon Hardy's, an Octorara Class of '99 graduate, death on the Iraqi battlefield in 2006 can be found at the Washington Post's Faces of the Fallen section:


Cpl. Brandon M. Hardy

Hometown: Cochranville, Pennsylvania, U.S.

Age: 25 years old

Died: April 28, 2006 in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Unit: Marines, 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Incident: Died while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Anbar Province.

Brandon knew what he wanted to do since he was 10 years old. Family remembers his eyes being glued to television news coverage of Desert Storm, and said he decided then to dedicate his life to serving his country.
