Parkesburg Yesterday

The Hotel Parkesburg, now the Arms, pictured shortly before its opening in 1908.  The caption in the upper righthand corner reads "Spent several hours in this town to day with J. F. Bradenbaugh.  After dinner took the 1:30 train for Downingtown PA."

Great picture of the Arms Apartments on First Avenue posted to Facebook this week by Deb Zwicker Wilson.

Built in 1907 and opened in 1908 as the Parkesburg Hotel by B. F. Dorsheimer, the building featured a bar and a comfortable dining room and offered daily, weekly and monthly boarding options.

The creek pictured running to the left of the Arms and under First Avenue is the same creek that flooded last week covering the 400 block of First Avenue in 18 inches of water.
