Christiana Library Sponsors Golf Tourney

So what does the 2nd Annual Christiana Moores Memorial Library Golf Tournament have to do with Parkesburg?

Funny you should ask.

Aside from the fact that Christiana is a our neighbor and one of the seven municipalities covered by the Octorara Area School District, there's also the small matter of Jack Assetto.

Many of you know Jack as the town's barber, cutting hair and regaling customers who come to his First Avenue shop with stories (Ever heard the one about his fishing trip with former president Jimmy Carter?), opinions (always conservative and never politically correct) and jokes, some political, a few off color (he is a barber after all!).

What many don't know is that behind the scenes Jack is a tireless worker for the area's causes.

In recent years he's done time (it felt like hard labor sometimes!) on  Sadsbury Township's Board of Supervisors.

He currently serves as Treasurer and keeper of the checkbooks and secret bank accounts for Atglen's all volunteer fire company AND, this is where Christiana comes in, Jack serves as Chair of Christiana's Moores Memorial Library's $1.9M Capital Campaign Committee.

Read more about the fund raising initiative and watch a video of the library's move into the old Wachovia bank building here.
