Westwood Fire Co. Does Parkesburg

An excellent summary and a wonderful collection of phot's from Sunday's Memorial Day Parade can be found at Westwood Fire Company's web page here.

Money quote:
The Westwood Fire Company would like to thank the Parkesburg VFW for their continued support of our Fire Company and for another kind donation which was presented to our members at the parade.

Did Parkesburg Fire Company recieve a donation? Is there a reason that Parkesburg Fire Company is not mentioned at all in the Parkesburg Today for this event? Maybe I missed Westwood members cleaning up and setting up chairs for the event.

Raymond, I think all he is trying to do is to draw everyones attention to Westwoods website for the nice write up they have of "PARKESBURGS" VFW Memorial Day Parade. I didn't even see the parade mentioned on the Parkesburg Fire Companies website. Maybe a write up from Parkesburg Fire Co. about the VFW parade would be a nice touch instead of looking for a thank you or recognition about setting up chairs.

Oh I agree 100% on "our" fire company not being part of promoting community events, especially when it comes to this type of activity. But, no one was looking for a thank you except I guess you.

Point missed, thanks anyway.

Your first comment seemed as though you were looking for some type of recognition from Parkesburg Today about Parkesburg Fire Company and all that they did for the VFW Parade. Either way it doesn't really matter.....Memorial Day should be celebrated and we should honor those who protect us. It should not be celebrated by asking why PFC wasn't recognized in a blog about getting donations, cleaning up, and setting up some chairs. Your first point and I quote "Is there a reason that Parkesburg Fire Company is not mentioned at all in the Parkesburg Today for this event? Maybe I missed Westwood members cleaning up and setting up chairs for the event". I was not looking for a thank you.....I was not the one who wrote that comment....it was you. So you had to be looking for something or you would not have posted those questions/comments. Maybe some jealousy that another FC got some recognition and PFC didn't?

You are both missing the point. The point of the parade was to thank the veterans for the service they gave to our country, not to argue on whose company should be thanked. As for the chairs that is our duty as being a service to the community and as where a thank you would have been appreciated we cannot expect one from everyone every time we do something. This is merely an argument that only fuels a fire that people are continuing to let burn. As for promoting events, the sign outside the firehouse was changed, on both sides to promote the event. That was the best way seen fit to promote it because many people pass by there and look at that sign daily rather than getting on a website and looking up events. It might have been PARKESBURGS VFW Memorial Day parade, but it was not PARKESBURG FIRE COMPANYS PARADE, therefore Parkesburg was asked to be in the parade, not head the parade. As for the answer, yes Parkesburg did receive a donation, and we are thankful for it. This is not something that people should be spending their time worrying about and arguing over, there is more important and reasonable things to look at and discuss.

Obviously Shelby you didn't read my last comment......and I quote "Memorial Day should be celebrated and we should honor those who protect us. It should not be celebrated by asking why PFC wasn't recognized in a blog about getting donations, cleaning up, and setting up some chairs." But thanks for the comment.
