Free Immunization Catch-Up Clinics



This announcement from the Octorara Area School District:

In response to the new immunization requirements going into effect for the 2011/2012 school year, free immunization clinics will be offered to students of the Octorara Area School District during the month of May.  

Student immunization records were reviewed and parents will be receiving letters from the Chester County Health Department (CCHD) indicating which, if any, immunizations their child needs to be brought up to date.  If you wish for your child to receive needed immunizations at the free clinic, please complete and return the consent form from the CCHD to your child's school nurse prior to the scheduled clinic date.

If you receive a letter indicating your child is is need of immunizations, but you believe they are up to date, please forward current immunization records to your child's school nurse.
 
Immunization Clinic Dates:

OPLC/OES-May 9th
OIS-May 20th
OMS/OHS-May 18th
Immunization Requirements for 2011/2012 School Year:
All Grades K-12:

4 doses DPT, DT vaccines (Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus)
3 doses Polio vaccine
3 doses Hepatitis B vaccine
2 doses Measles, Mumps vaccines (1 dose Rubella), usually given as MMR
2 doses Varicella vaccine (chickenpox) of history of disease **2nd dose is new requirement**
Additional Immunizations required for students entering 7th grade

1 dose Tdap vaccine (Tetanus, diptheria, acellular pertussis), if 5 years have elapsed since last dose
1 dose MCV (Meningococcal Vaccine)

*The law for Tdap and MCV becomes a requirement for seventh grade every year.  All children will be required to have this immunization before they enter seventh grade.
Students who are not in compliance with the new immunization requirements next school year will be excluded from school as mandated by law.
