Parkesburg Native Wins Humanitarian Award

Congratulations to Larry Welsch, a Parkesburg native and Executive Director of the Chester County Food Bank for being named the 2011 winner of the Safe Harbor Andrew Dinniman Humanitarian Award.

Larry, who grew up on 4th Avenue and "spent 99% of his life in Parkesburg," said the award came as a complete surprise to him.

He attributed the award to his work at the Food Bank specifically the Gleaning Program.  The Gleaning Program works with individual gardeners, churches and farmers across Chester County to grow and deliver over 80,000 lbs of food each year to the poor and needy in the County.

Our hats off to Larry Welsch and the Chester County Food Bank for winning this prestigious award!
