Mark Peticca, a teacher at Octorara High School and one of 15 Heart Of Learning finalist, is 3rd from the left. |
I'm not one to complain usually. The good in life far exceeds the negative.
Today I'll make an exception.
First, lets celebrate Citadel for their Heart of Learning Award.
The program annually recognizes 15 teachers from Chester County for their dedication to their students, schools and communities.
From these finalists, three winners (one high school, one middle school and one elementary school teacher) were the recipients of the Citadel Heart of Learning Award.
The three winners each receive $2,000 to use in their classrooms while the other finalist receive $500.
Here comes my complaint.
For what seems like the umpteenth time in a row, an Octorara teacher was NOT selected as one of the three Heart of Learning winners.

- Jim Gerlach, United States Representative
- Claudia Hellebush, President of United Way of Chester County
- Joseph O'Brien, Executive Director of the CCIU
- Michael Schnaby Senior Vice President of Citadel
- Marguerite Dube, Director of Chester County Library
But every member of the committee is from the central and eastern potions of Chester County.
I'm just curious if any member of the committee can locate Parkesburg on a map or correctly spell 'Octorara.'
Well, can they?
Just asking...

That's funny - I was thinking the same thing this morning when I looked at the list.
Well if you're thinking the same thing Ellen, does that makes it official?
Either that...or great minds think alike!
