Regarding your poll, I think that it's important to note that Octorara provides a quality education for the students who WANT IT. That, coupled with the fact that many of the students treat the PSSA's as a joke, tends to drag the district's scores down IMO.

My children got a quality education for the most part. They graduated in 2000 and 2003. Both have gotten their Masters Degrees and are pursuing interesting careers, one in banking and one in healthcare. Neither is still in this area. There were some inspiring teachers when my children were at Octorara. Where I found quality to be lacking, and my children agree with me, was in the guidance department. I was less than impressed with the counselors. They were practically useless in helping us through the college search processes. What I also found to be lacking for many students, was positive parental involvement and discipline. A quality education involves both teachers AND parents!
