Vogelsong Not In All Star Game

National League All-Star Ryan Vogelsong #32 of the San Francisco Giants talks with National League All-Star Andre Ethier #16 of the Los Angeles Dodgers before the start of the All-Star Game Tuesday evening.

National League manager Bruce Bochy decided to keep Octorara alum Ryan Vogelsong in the bullpen last night just in case the All Star game went into extra innings.

The game ended in the regulation 9 innings with a 5-1 National League win and Vogelsong's arm or talents weren't needed.

Not pitching in the game didn't take the shine off Vogelsong's first All-Star Game experience.  "This has been amazing," he said. "I'm never going to forget this and being able to share your experiences with your [Giants] teammates was great."

On being held out of the rotation of pitchers, Vogelsong handled it with class saying:
"It was a smart move. ... That's what those guys [relievers] do, close games,"
