YMCA Group Dedicates Plaque Honoring Fallen Marine

A plaque honoring Cpl. Brandon Hardy, an Octorara graduate who was killed in 2006 during Operation Iraqi Freedom was announced this past Monday evening.

Donanated by the YMCA STRIDE group, the plaque sits just outside the door at the district office adjacent to the Middle School.

STRIDE is a fun fitness and running program for boys in the 3rd through 5th grade. Boys have the chance to share their thoughts and opinions about various life topics in a safe, encouraging environment that helps them develop character, while building their running endurance to compete in a 5K.
Over the course of 10 weeks, trained coaches will meet with the boys twice a week, after school, for 75 minutes. They will weave important topics and discussion into fun games and running activities. There is a fall season from September to December and a spring season from March to May.
